I think it is generally a bad policy to blog about work, but...
No, just kidding.
I would actually like to say a few words about a bit of technology. Namely, the Audix woman and her little red light.
For those of you in the DC Metro area, if you have voice mail, you know what I'm talking about. The Audix woman (in the phone - shall we call her Audry?) is the woman who tells you you have messages on your phone, she instructs you about how to change and delete messages and she gets saucy when your mail box is full. (And isn't afraid to tell you!)
So whenever I turn around that damn little red light is on?! How am I missing these people? Seriously, Who are these people and why are they calling me? I cannot send federal dollars your way! Leave me alone!
I actually know a guy who does not have voice mail AT ALL. At first I thought, 'well that's silly, how would people leave you messages?'
However, I am begining to rethink breaking up with the Audry the Audix woman. What has she ever done for me?! (Other than randomly turning on the little red light after I just made it go away?)

SURF CAMP!
Aka: Blue Crush here I come.
I am going to surf camp!
Life is short, and I feel I need to bond with the Ocean. I hear that there is this super awesome thing called 'Dawn Patrol' when you get up really early and watch the waves break on the beach to see how they are forming and if they will be 'good waves' surfing waves. (I use the term 'good' tentatively as I do not know what a 'good' wave looks like - YET.)
Dawn Patrol sounds almost as much fun as the Powder Watch and perhaps more reliable than snowboarding as the OCEAN NEVER MELTS!
So, surf camp. Witch's Rock Surf Camp in Costa Rica seems like the place for me! (www.witchsrocksurfcamp.com) The accomodations look pretty good and the surf instructors seem like they know what they would know what they are doing - check out Ricardo, now doesn't he just LOOK like someone who is ONE with the OCEAN?
There is just one little thing (or maybe a big thing with fins and teeth) that concerns me... a shark biting off my leg. (I'd like to cross-apply traumatic childhood memories of JAWS at this juncture.)
Conveniently, they have an entire Q&A session about everything you would ever think to ask, including sharks.
Question: Are there sharks in Costa Rica?
Answer: There are sharks in every body of salt water, so we're not going to bullshit you on this one. There have never been any reports of fatal shark attacks in Costa Rica. In comparison, there are fatal attacks in Florida, Australia and Hawaii every year. Where would be a safer place to learn to surf than Costa Rica?
INDEED.

Things to do at the gym - Discover new magazines!
So, I just found a nifty new magazine.
I was at the gym, and because of some MP3 issues I'm experiencing and having no tunes, needed something to entertain myself. Generally, the magazines at the gym are the usual political fare that you get in the gym on site. (National Journal, CQ Weekly, National Review etc.) And who wants to read about global warming while you're on the stairmaster?! (Not me)
So this magazine, PINK (found at pinkmagazine.com)is all about professional women, how to ask for a raise, 9 women who could be president, ergonomically correct chairs and the really fabulous Mayer of Altlanta, Shirley Franklin!
This magazine rocks. I think I may have to get myself a subscription - as opposed to just stealing them from the gym.

What is the biggest hurdle to become the President of the United States?
Money?
Looks?
Race?
Religion?
Substance?
Support?
Sex?
Anyone...Buehler...Buehler...anyone?

It's the little things in life.
Did you know that Jelly Belly makes individually wrapped jelly beans!?
No joke.
I think that is perhaps the best idea on the planet. I have recently had a few of these aforementioned treats and they are very difficult to unwrap. By the time you get the pesky thing unwrapped, eat it, and move on to another, you are almost over your sugar craving.
Genius, I tell you genius!

I've had it.
Every day the weather prognosticator says, 'snow flurries today, everyone be prepared for the snow flurries'.
So every day, my hopes raise, and I look out the window to see the most microscopic bits of frozen water that ever there were.
Exhibit A. Can you see any snow in that picture? Nope, didn't think so. When I took this picture it was (quote, unquote) snowing.

Seriously, where I come from you don't need the weather man to tell you it snowed. Proof is in the pudding, my friend - or on your sidewalk, as it were.
